3 Pete White - T-shirt

I remembering seeing this T-shirt a while and just laughing at the idea of it. The picture doesn't adequately translate everything that is going on: That shirt costs over 2500$, 600$ more if you want it black. That is quite a statement, on top of the already controversial writing on the shirt.

I think this shirt really highlights the ability of a T-shirt to easily communicate something about the wearer to observers. The purpose of this shirt is to be elitist, to be boastful, to be offensive, and most importantly, to be an indicator of wealth. T-shirts are such an effective way to passively promote something. There is also something interesting about the idea that a T-shirt can advertise something about the wearer that isn't actually true (but not in this case). Someone may select a T-shirt to wear because it symbolizes something they want to be. Sometimes wearing a T-shirt actually causes the wearer to become what they want to be, because it induces a feeling in the observer. The T-shirt medium is such a great billboard to advertise yourself on, even if the product isn't all it says it is in the commercial.
