4-Nicole: Swans Reflecting Elephants

This famous painting by Dali really amazes me, for both its technicality and its creativity. It challenges the viewer to reconsider what they're seeing, as the trees and swans transform into elephants in the reflection. It is particularly intriguing to me because of this surrealism and juxtaposition of two very distinct animals (graceful swans and hefty elephants), and unifying them in a very unique way. It really exploits the viewer's visual tendency of comparison in shape in recognizing objects.

I also found this sculpture by Ruth smucker extremely interesting as it also challenges the viewer's everyday perceptions as the table is made out of what looks like a mummified person.
